LuaBinaries is a distribution of the Lua libraries and executables compiled for several platforms.

This distribution offers a standard set of Lua libraries for the available platforms that can be used in any project that wants to be compatible with Tecgraf/PUC-Rio products and Kepler Project components.

LuaBinaries is free software and uses the same license as Lua 5.

Motivation

Since Lua offers no standard set of libraries, many projects and teams have to build their own version of the Lua libraries and this can create binary incompatibilities among the resulting products.

Tecgraf/PUC-Rio and Kepler Project teams have a lot of shared products, so it made no sense to keep maintaining two (incompatible) sets of Lua libraries in parallel. While it would be nice to have a single standard for the whole Lua community, that is still not the reality. So both teams merged their requirements and now use a common set of files. Those files are called LuaBinaries and are available here for other Lua developers that want to use them.

Using a common set of libraries has some advantages for the developer:

  • Easier interoperability with other products based on LuaBinaries
  • Faster setup time for new Lua developers

If you need to recompile from sources and would like to ensure LuaBinaries compatibility, use the source package available at the LuaBinaries Download with no modifications. In fact the only change from the Lua.org package is the name of library and executable that use "luaXX" instead of "lua", where XX is the version number.

Installation

The LuaBinaries files are intended for advanced users and programmers who want to incorporate Lua in their applications or distributions and would like to keep compatibility with LuaBinaries, so they also will be compatible with many other modules available on the Internet. Get it from SourceForge or from the dedicated servers it is hosted in.

If what you want is a full Lua installation, please check other projects such as the Lua for Windows, LuaDist or LuaRocks.

Stable Release

Calligra 3.0.1 is the current stable version. Please install the newest possible version, older versions will not be fully supported. Really old versions such as 2.4 are not supported at all.

Linux

Please pick your distribution.

Arch Linux

Arch Linux provides Calligra packages in the [extra] repository.

Chakra

Chakra provides Calligra packages in the desktop repository.

The Chakra LiveDVD comes with the latest Calligra pre-installed.

Debian

Debian provides Calligra packages in its unstable repository and testing repository.

Fedora

Fedora packages for Calligra are available in the unstable repository of the KDE Packaging Project.

Gentoo

Gentoo has Calligra packaged in Portage: packages.gentoo.org

Kubuntu

Calligra 2.8 is available in 14.04 version and newer. This can be used in any Ubuntu flavour.

It's also available in the Kubuntu Backports PPA for 12.04 LTS and 13.10.

openSUSE

The easiest way to install Calligra on openSUSE is by going to http://software.opensuse.org/package/calligra. Please note, this page may present outdated unmaintained Calligra. In such cases, first click on the Show other versions link and select a newer version.

openSUSE Build Service. Calligra packages are available from the KDE:Extra repository for openSUSE 12.x and 13.x. Unstable packages based on GIT snapshots are also available from the KDE:Unstable:Extra repository. Use with care

Furthermore, packages including Calligra Gemini, which require software not commonly available in openSUSE, are available from calligragemini repository for openSUSE 13.1, 13.2 and Factory.

Ubuntu

Ubuntu users can get a nightly build of Calligra with the Project Neon, you need to add ppa:neon/ppa to your sources.list and install project-neon-calligra package.

This script installs project neon and calligra:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:neon/ppa \  sudo apt-get update\  sudo apt-get install project-neon-base \ project-neon-calligra \ project-neon-calligra-dbg

In order to run the installed packages you have to logout and choose "Project Neon" from the login screen. Neon always has the latest version, not necessarily the beta releases.

ROSA Marathon 2012

ROSA users can get the packages for development versions of Calligra from personal repository on ABF. To add it on your system run the following commands:

Debug Symbols

What are debugging symbols, and why are they important

When a program is compiled with special switches to generate debugging symbols (the -g compiler switch) extra information is stored in the program file. This information can be used to generate a stack trace that contains much more information, such as the exact line number of the source file where things went wrong. Without this information it is very hard to figure out what went wrong by looking at the stack trace.

These are the canonical release forms of GnuPG. To use them youneed to build the binary version from the provided source code.For Unix systems this is the standard way of installing software.For GNU/Linux distributions are commonly used (e.g. Debian, Fedora,RedHat, or Ubuntu) which may already come with a directlyinstallable packages. However, these version may be older so thatbuilding from the source is often also a good choice. Someknowledge on how to compile and install software is required.

The table lists the different GnuPG packages, followed by requiredlibraries, required tools, optional software, and legacy versionsof GnuPG. For end-of-life dates see further down.

GnuPG distributions are signed. It is wise and more secure to check out for their integrity.

Remarks:

  • Pinentry is a collection of passphrase entry dialogs which isrequired for almost all usages of GnuPG.
  • GPGME is the standard library to access GnuPG functions fromprogramming languages.
  • GPA is a graphical frontend to GnuPG.
  • GnuPG 1.4 is the old, single binary version which still supportthe unsafe PGP-2 keys. This branch has no dependencies on theabove listed libraries or the Pinentry. However, it lacks manymodern features and will receive only important updates.

In general we do not distribute binary releases but leave that tothe common Linux distributions. However, for some operatingsystems we list pointers to readily installable releases. Wecannot guarantee that the versions offered there are current. Notealso that some of them apply security patches on top of thestandard versions but keep the original version number.

We announce the end-of-life date for a current stable version atthe time a new stable version is released. We maintain oldbranches for at least two years. For GnuPG 2.2 we consider 2.1.0as the birth of this new stable branch. For the other packages wedon't maintain branches and thus there is no end-of-life; alwaysuse the latest version.

Verify the integrity of the files¶

It is essential that you verify the integrity of the downloaded file usingthe PGP signature (.asc file) or a hash (.md5 or .sha* file). Please read Verifying Apache SoftwareFoundation Releases for more information on whyyou should verify our releases.

The PGP signature can be verified using PGP or GPG. First download theKEYS as well as the asc signature file for the relevant distribution.Make sure you get these files from the main distribution site, rather thanfrom a mirror. Then verify the signatures using
